By Belize Live News Staff: Police in northern Belize confiscated a significant quantity of cocaine, weighing over 28 kilograms, during a search operation on Wednesday night. Four individuals, including a local fisherman, have been charged in connection with the bust.
Acting on a search warrant, law enforcement officials raided the residence of 35-year-old Armando Torrez in the Corozal District. Three other individuals were also present at the time. The search yielded 25 parcels of cocaine, totaling 28.38 kilograms (62.567 pounds).
All four individuals were subsequently charged with “Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply.” During their arraignment at the Corozal Magistrate’s Court, Armando Torres entered a guilty plea with an explanation, while the others pleaded not guilty. All four have been remanded to the Kolbe Foundation until November 15, 2024.
