Police constable remanded for alleged gunplay incident

By Belize Live News Staff: A police constable is facing serious charges following an incident in early September involving the alleged misuse of a firearm.

Constable David Gongora, 35, appeared in court on Wednesday, facing two counts of harm and one count of aggravated assault. Reports indicate that Gongora allegedly pulled out his firearm during an altercation at the corner of King Street and Amara Avenue, where he was in the company of three individuals.

Appearing unrepresented, Gongora pleaded not guilty to the charges. Due to the gravity of the offenses, no bail was granted, and Gongora remains remanded. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 15.
