By Belize Live News Staff: In his State of the Nation address, Opposition Leader Hon. Dr. Moses Shyne Barrow lambasted the Briceno administration for failing to address the rising cost of living in Belize. Barrow highlighted that after four years under the current administration, many Belizeans are struggling more than ever to make ends meet.
Barrow emphasized the increasing prices of basic commodities, such as sugar and flour, and noted that this year’s Christmas may be marked by a shortage of essential goods. He blamed the government’s inability to manage the economy, citing the closure of local businesses and the increasing poverty rate as key indicators of the administration’s failure.
“The people of Belize are not living the Belizean dream; they are enduring a nightmare. While the government enjoys its privileges, ordinary Belizeans are finding it increasingly difficult to put food on the table,” Barrow stated.
The Opposition leader concluded by urging Belizeans to demand more accountability from their leaders, especially as the country faces significant economic challenges.
