By Belize Live News Staff: In an announcement met with resounding applause, Prime Minister John Briceño revealed plans to raise the income tax bracket from $20,000 to $29,000 by the end of the year. This move is projected to provide financial relief to over 2,800 workers, excluding Cabinet Ministers, the Prime Minister quipped lightheartedly.
Furthermore, approximately 700 workers are set to gain from adjusted laws designed to address loopholes that have unjustly deprived them of their hard-earned income.
The Prime Minister highlighted additional initiatives that have positively impacted numerous Belizeans. The National Health Insurance scheme has expanded to all but one district, and 22,000 children have received education grants. Thousands more now possess land ownership, a valuable asset that can serve as the foundation for a new home, and an expanded road network is enhancing connectivity throughout the nation.
