Belize's agricultural sector to benefit from sustainable livestock initiatives

By Belize Live News Staff: The Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster the sustainable development of Belize’s cattle industry. This partnership aims to promote climate-smart livestock practices, increase productivity, and enhance the sector’s resilience to climate change.

The collaboration will ensure farmers have access to financial resources and technical support to improve herd genetics and implement sustainable practices. The BLPA, mandated to establish a more structured and sustainable livestock sector, has been instrumental in advancing the industry. The DFC, in line with its mandate, provides agricultural and livestock loans to support the expansion of farming operations.

Through this joint effort, the DFC and BLPA aim to boost the productivity, sustainability, and resilience of Belize’s livestock industry, contributing to the economic growth of the country’s agricultural sector.
