By Belize Live News Staff: As of Friday, September 13, new controlled prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as butane, have been implemented nationwide, with a slight reduction of $0.01 per gallon.
Urban areas will now see the price of butane at $5.46 per gallon, while rural areas will pay $5.56 per gallon. The decrease, according to the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, reflects a drop in the acquisition price of both butane and propane.
The SCU emphasized that the prices set for imported LPG are based on the standard 70:30 mixture of propane to butane, as required by the Belize National Standard Specification for LPG. The new price structure applies to both wholesale and retail sales across the country.
For wholesale purchases, the unified price across all districts remains at BZ$3.86 per gallon. Retail prices, however, vary slightly between urban and rural areas, with urban consumers paying BZ$1.25 per pound (BZ$5.46 per gallon) and rural consumers paying BZ$1.27 per pound (BZ$5.56 per gallon).
