Belize City terminal roof collapse injures two; Investigation underway

By Belize Live News Staff: The Transport Department has launched an investigation after part of the terminal roof in Belize City became dislodged, injuring two passengers. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Transport, officials expressed their deep concern over the incident and extended their apologies to those affected and their families.

The Ministry confirmed that they are closely monitoring the conditions of the injured passengers and will remain in contact with their families and doctors. “Our immediate thoughts and sincerest apologies go out to the affected individuals and their families during this difficult time,” the statement read.

A full investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the dislodged roof. Structural engineers are currently assessing the terminal’s overall safety, and any damages found will be repaired immediately. The Ministry assured the public that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of terminal users moving forward.

“We are committed to working swiftly to resolve the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available,” said Bernadine Flowers, Public Relations Officer for the Ministry. The Ministry emphasized that all measures will be taken to prevent future occurrences of such incidents.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected once more information becomes available.
