By Belize Live News staff: Belize is set to enjoy mainly fair weather today, with sunny skies and some scattered clouds throughout the country. The overall conditions are expected to remain relatively calm, with only a few isolated showers or thunderstorms predicted as the day progresses into the evening.
Marine conditions will be favorable for activities along the coast, with winds coming from the east-southeast at speeds between 5 to 15 knots. This will create a light chop on the waters, with waves reaching between 2 to 4 feet. Coastal temperatures are expected to reach 90°F, while inland areas will heat up to 95°F during the day. Overnight, cooler temperatures will bring some relief, dropping to 83°F along the coast and 74°F inland. In the hills, temperatures will vary, with highs around 80°F and lows dipping to 68°F overnight.
Looking beyond Belize’s borders, Hurricane Francine remains a system of interest. As of this morning, it is located approximately 195 miles southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana, moving in a northeast direction at 12 mph with sustained winds of 90 mph. While Hurricane Francine is not expected to directly impact Belize, residents are encouraged to remain alert as the hurricane season progresses.
Another area of potential development lies over the Eastern Tropical Atlantic, where a tropical wave is being closely monitored. This system has a medium chance of strengthening into a tropical depression over the next 48 hours, as it moves west-northwestward at a speed of 10 to 15 mph.
In terms of the forecast for the next 24 hours, similar conditions will persist into Thursday, with more sunny skies and a low chance of showers or thunderstorms. As always, Belizeans are advised to stay informed as changes in tropical weather systems could affect the region in the coming days.
Today’s tides will see a low tide at 10:44 AM followed by a high tide at 5:22 PM. There will be another low tide at 8:45 PM, and the next high tide is set for 3:32 AM tomorrow.
