By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are waking up to a cloudy Monday morning with the anticipation of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout the day. The National Meteorological Service attributes this weather pattern to the prevailing moist and unstable conditions.
Mariners and those venturing to the coast are advised to exercise caution due to moderate sea conditions. Easterly to southeasterly winds are predicted to blow at 10-20 knots, generating wave heights of 4-6 feet. Temperature-wise, coastal areas can expect highs around 88°F (31°C) and lows near 76°F (24°C). Inland regions will experience warmer conditions, reaching up to 92°F (33°C) with lows around 72°F (22°C). Hilly areas will offer a respite from the heat with temperatures ranging from 78°F (26°C) to a cool 66°F (19°C).
The Meteorological Service is closely monitoring two tropical weather systems. Potential Tropical Cyclone #6, currently positioned approximately 305 miles south-southeast of the Mouth of the Rio Grande, is exhibiting maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and is tracking north-northwest at 5 mph. Additionally, an area of low pressure over the central tropical Atlantic is showing signs of development and has a medium chance of intensifying into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, Belizeans can anticipate a few showers or thunderstorms in the morning, gradually diminishing and becoming isolated in the afternoon.
For those planning coastal activities today, low tides are expected at 8:17 AM and 7:17 PM, with high tides at 2:16 PM and 1:27 AM. The sun rose at 5:40 AM and will set at 5:59 PM, while the moon will rise at 10:55 AM and set at 10:09 PM.
