Police investigating sudden death of UB student in Dangriga

By Belize Live News Staff: The sudden death of a 17-year-old University of Belize student in Dangriga on Saturday night has sparked a police investigation. Darrel Damien Choc, a resident of Belmopan, was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital by two female friends after experiencing difficulty breathing. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Choc was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

According to reports, Choc had been socializing earlier in the evening at a local bar and grill, where he consumed alcohol and ate nachos. The group later visited a nearby beach, where Choc reportedly smoked marijuana.

Police have taken statements from the two women who accompanied Choc and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of his death. His mother confirmed that Choc had no known medical conditions prior to the incident.
