By Belize Live News Staff: In a show of regional solidarity, the Belize Defence Force (BDF) has sent two senior officers to join a multinational task force working to restore stability in Haiti. This decision is in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699, which calls for international cooperation to address the ongoing crisis in the Caribbean nation.
The BDF officers will first integrate with the Jamaican Defence Force Headquarters in Jamaica before moving on to Haiti. Their main focus will be operational planning, contributing to the larger mission aimed at creating conditions for free and fair elections.
The Ministry of National Defence and Border Security expressed pride in their involvement, emphasizing the importance of Belize’s contribution to the Haitian people’s efforts toward peace and democracy.
The BDF’s participation in this task force not only highlights their professionalism but also reinforces Belize’s commitment to supporting regional and global security. As Haiti continues its journey toward stability, Belize’s role serves as a symbol of hope and cooperation in the region.
