Police officer charged with wounding common-law wife

By Belize Live News Staff: A 42-year-old police officer in Belize was arrested and charged on Wednesday with the crime of wounding following a domestic dispute, authorities said.

The officer, who has been placed on interdiction from active duty, was accused of assaulting his common-law wife on Tuesday night in Bella Vista Village. The victim sustained injuries that were classified as wounding by a medical officer.

The Belize Police Department reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of the perpetrator’s occupation or status.
