By Belize Live News Staff: A general forecast for Belize for today, September 5, 2024, warns of continued moist and unstable conditions across the country, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain. According to the National Meteorological Service (NMS), the weather pattern will persist throughout the day, affecting both inland and coastal regions.
Marine conditions are expected to remain moderate, with winds coming from the east-northeast at 10-20 knots, leading to sea waves between 4 and 6 feet. Coastal temperatures will reach a high of 85°F (29°C) and a low of 78°F (26°C), while inland areas will experience higher temperatures, peaking at 90°F (32°C) and dropping to 72°F (22°C) by nightfall. In the hills, temperatures will be slightly cooler, ranging from 78°F (26°C) during the day to 67°F (19°C) at night.
As the day progresses, the NMS continues to monitor a tropical wave moving rapidly westward across the west-central Caribbean Sea. This system is producing a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for some development in the next few days as it moves toward the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. While no tropical cyclone formation is anticipated in the next 48 hours, the system’s westward progression remains under close observation.
For Friday, the forecast predicts further outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms, though these conditions are expected to decrease by Friday night.
