Elderly woman assaulted and robbed in San Ignacio home invasion

By Belize Live News Staff: A 75-year-old American woman was the victim of a home invasion on Tuesday, September 3rd. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 am while the woman was alone at her residence on Chiquibul Road.

According to the victim, she was confronted by a masked man at her front door who forced his way into the house at gunpoint. Two more masked assailants, one armed with a rifle and the other with a pistol, then joined the first intruder.

The woman attempted to fight back, but was subdued and struck multiple times with a gun. The assailants proceeded to ransack the house, stealing jewelry, cash, credit cards, and a firearm. Before fleeing, they bound the woman’s hands with duct tape.

The victim’s husband discovered her injured upon his return home and immediately transported her to La Loma Luz Hospital for treatment. She sustained several injuries to her face and head.

Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Ignacio Police Department.
