By Belize Live News Staff: In a bid to enhance road safety in Belize City, the Belize City Council has partnered with Unicomer Belize Limited, the distributor of AKT motorcycles, to launch a comprehensive motorcycle safety campaign.
Edgar Alvarez, Unicomer’s regional automotive commercial manager, highlighted the critical need for the initiative, stating that the increase in motorcycle sales and subsequent accidents spurred the collaboration. The campaign aims to safeguard not only motorcyclists but also pedestrians and other road users.
Mayor Bernard Wagner emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that it will focus on promoting safe road practices and public education through various media channels under the slogan “Your Family Awaits You.” The Council’s Enforcement Unit will also receive additional resources to bolster regulatory measures and ensure officer safety.
This joint effort signifies a proactive approach to addressing the rising concerns over motorcycle safety in Belize City. The combined efforts of the Council and Unicomer Belize are expected to foster a culture of responsible riding and safer roads for all.
