By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s relaunched national lottery game, Boledo, has generated $72 million in gross sales in its first eight months of operation, showcasing its immense popularity and revenue-generating potential.
With net profits reaching an estimated $13.5 million, the game’s operational efficiency is underscored by its low administrative costs, which remain under 1% and encompass expenses for software, servers, and a small staff.
The majority of the revenue, approximately 69-70%, is allocated to prize winnings, while 15% is directed to agents and resellers. The game’s primary demographic comprises low-income earners, driven by various socio-economic factors.
Projections indicate that Boledo’s gross sales could hit between $108 and $110 million by the end of the year, yielding around $20 million in profit. These significant earnings are slated to support the National Health Insurance program, sports initiatives, and the Charities Fund, showcasing the game’s positive impact on key sectors within Belize.
