Belize soaked: Showers and thunderstorms to dominate today

By Belize Live News Staff: Prepare for a soggy day in Belize as showers and thunderstorms take center stage. The National Meteorological Service forecasts widespread rain, primarily impacting inland and northern regions. While coastal areas may see a few sunny breaks, cloudy skies will dominate the day.

The rain is expected to kick off this morning along the coast, gradually moving inland and northward as the day progresses. The wet weather is likely to persist into the night and possibly even tomorrow morning.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution due to choppy sea conditions caused by east-southeast winds blowing at 5-15 knots. Waves are expected to reach 3-5 feet.

Temperature-wise, expect a range across the country. Coastal areas will see highs near 87°F (31°C) and lows around 82°F (28°C), while inland regions will be warmer, reaching 92°F (33°C) during the day and dropping to 74°F (23°C) at night. Hilly areas will offer a slightly cooler respite, with highs near 78°F (26°C) and lows around 68°F (20°C).

The good news is that no tropical cyclone formation is anticipated in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico over the next 48 hours.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday and Saturday night will bring cloudy intervals with isolated showers. However, the southern part of the country may experience a few more showers, especially at night.

Residents are urged to stay informed about the latest weather developments and take necessary precautions. Avoid driving through flooded areas and be mindful of potential lightning strikes.

Stay dry, Belize!
