ComPol puzzled by Mark Francisco's murder, no motive found

By Belize Live News Staff: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed on Monday that the investigation into the murder of Mark Francisco is ongoing, with the main challenge being to establish a motive. The victim had no known ties to gang activity or any criminal underworld.

“Mr. Francisco was a productive Belizean, and we are still trying to figure out why he was killed,” stated Williams. “The investigators are working to gather evidence and make progress in the case.”

While the police have received information from individuals who claim to have knowledge of the events leading to the murder, they have been reluctant to provide official statements. The authorities are actively working to convince these individuals to come forward with written statements to aid in the investigation and potential arrest of the perpetrator.

“We have people who are saying things to us, but are reluctant to give statements,” Williams explained. “It’s a matter of trying to convince them to reduce what they know to the police in writing so that we can make an arrest.”

The Compol revealed that they are currently focusing on one particular suspect of interest. However, as of now, no one has been detained in connection to the murder.

The police are urging anyone with information regarding the murder of Francisco to come forward and assist in the investigation.
