Meighan and Tillett remain in US custody, extradition efforts ongoing

By Belize Live News Staff: Despite ongoing efforts by Belizean authorities, Ellis Meighan and Brady Tillett, two wanted men who fled to the United States, remain in US custody.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed that the process of extradition is ongoing, but the men are currently under the jurisdiction of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“We’re still going through the process with the US Authority,” Williams said. “We have submitted the necessary documentation for both individuals and are hoping that once ICE is through with their process, they will be able to return them to us back in Belize.”

The Commissioner did not provide a timeline for when the extradition might occur, as it depends on the completion of ICE’s procedures.
