By Belize Live News Staff: A 63-year-old watchman was robbed of $3,555 Belizean dollars (approximately $1,778 USD) on Sunday afternoon in Belize City, according to a police report.
The victim, a resident of San Jose Village in the Orange Walk District, told police he was walking on Mosul Street around 2 p.m. when two men approached him from behind. One of the men, riding a bicycle, pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the victim while the other man stole the cash from his pants pocket.
The victim attempted to escape but was knocked to the ground before the two men fled into an alley. He was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
Police are investigating the incident and have reviewed surveillance footage from the area. So far, no arrests have been made.
