Police investigate suspected electrical fire at three-story home on Placencia Peninsula

By Belize Live News Staff:  Police are investigating a house fire that occurred at mile 13 along the Placencia Peninsula on Wednesday.

The incident was reported around 12:15 p.m., prompting police and fire services to respond. Upon arrival, they observed smoke emerging from the roof of a three-story concrete building.

Fifty-three-year-old Peter Banman, caretaker of the Plantation area on Placencia Road, stated that while inside the house, he was informed about the smoke. Upon checking, he confirmed the smoke and immediately contacted the fire department, which subsequently extinguished the fire.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a failed electrical air conditioning unit in the attic. The house was insured, and the investigation is ongoing.
