Harmonyville crash claims life of ATV driver; Police investigating

By Belize Live News Staff: A 59-year-old man was killed in a collision with a police vehicle early Sunday morning on the George Price Highway near Harmonyville.

The deceased, Bernard Sylvan Staine, a resident of Franks Eddy Village in the Cayo District, was reportedly driving an ATV when the incident occurred.

According to police officer Francis Rodriguez Jr., who was driving the black 4Runner involved in the collision, he swerved to avoid the ATV, which was parked in the middle of the highway. Despite his efforts, Rodriguez was unable to prevent the impact.

Staine was thrown from the ATV and sustained fatal injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
