By Belize Live News Staff: A night of drinking in Cotton Tree Village took a tragic turn on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, when a heated argument between a group of men escalated into a fatal shooting.
According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division, police responded to reports of a shooting incident around 10:15 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims, Clint Castillo and Andrew Muns, who had been shot.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the three men were socializing and drinking together when a disagreement broke out. The situation quickly escalated, leading to one individual pulling out a firearm and shooting both Castillo and Muns. Castillo succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Muns was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
“One person is in custody in connection with this shooting, and we are actively searching for another individual involved in this crime,” stated ACP Romero.
The police have not yet released the names of the individuals involved or any further details regarding the motive behind the argument. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
