One dead, one critical in Cotton Tree Village shooting

By Belize Live News Staff: Tragedy struck the village of Cotton Tree late Saturday night when a dispute turned deadly, leaving one man dead and another fighting for his life.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 10:35 PM on Saturday, July 6th, near the primary school in Cotton Tree Village. An argument broke out among a group of individuals socializing in the area. The situation escalated rapidly when Akeem Richards, one of the men involved, allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire on Clint Castillo, 41, and Andrew Muns, 32.

Castillo was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the Western Regional Hospital early Sunday morning. Muns sustained gunshot injuries to his shoulder and neck and remains in critical condition.

Police investigators were dispatched to the scene and recovered two spent 9mm shells, a knife, and a hat.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Akeem Richards or any details about the shooting is urged to contact the Belize Police Department immediately.
