By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise’s Supplies Control Unit (SCU) has intensified its efforts to enforce the Supplies Control (Prices) Regulations. In recent inspections across Cayo and Belize Districts, nine establishments were found in violation and issued tickets accordingly.
This proactive measure aims to protect consumers from unfair pricing practices and ensure adherence to regulated markups. The SCU has reminded establishment owners to maintain prices within the permitted range for regulated items, clearly display prices, and readily provide invoices and receipts upon request.
In particular, the SCU emphasized that the control price for 16 oz sliced bread is $2.10, not $2.25. The unit will continue its rigorous inspections and collaborate with local authorities to curb violations. Consumers are encouraged to report any suspected breaches of the regulations by calling 607-4686.
The SCU can be contacted for further information at 828-5018, 223-2845, or via email at desiree.montes@agriculture.gov.bz.
