Belize National Celebrations Commission announces new route for Carnival Road March 2024

Contributed: The Belize National Celebrations Commission (NCC), of which the Belize Carnival Association is an esteemed member, is pleased to officially announce a new route for the highly anticipated Belize City Carnival Road March, scheduled for September 7, 2024. This adjustment reflects our commitment to enhancing the overall experience for all participants, spectators, and the wider community.

New Route Details:

● Start: Near Memorial Park
● End: Marion Jones Sporting Complex
● Judging Area: The entire length of Digi Park

After experiencing logistical challenges over recent years, the Commission explored several alternative routes to find the best option to eliminate these challenges. In collaboration with the Belize Carnival Association and the Police Department, two test runs were conducted along the proposed route. Subsequently, the police and the association recommended this route as it addressed the standing logistical concerns and offered an excellent opportunity for an enhanced carnival experience. The Carnival Association then put the proposed route to a vote among its members, and the majority expressed their support for it.

This new route ensures smoother traffic management, improved participant safety, and increased accessibility for spectators, allowing everyone to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant festivities. The NCC, in collaboration with its partners, such as the Belize Police Department and the Belize City Council, will soon launch a public awareness campaign for Carnival Road March regarding safety, improved community engagement, traffic management, and the sale and consumption of liquor.

We extend a warm invitation to all to come out and revel in the spectacular sights and sounds of this year’s Carnival Road March as we celebrate A Nation Proud and Free: Belize@43.
