By Belize Live News Staff: The University of Belize (UB) Board of Trustees is proud to announce the election of Dr. Luz Longsworth as its new Vice Chairperson. Dr. Longsworth, who holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Higher Education Management) from the University of Bath, UK, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
Currently serving as the Senior Corporate Director of Sandals Corporate University, Dr. Longsworth’s background includes significant leadership positions within the University of the West Indies (UWI). She previously held the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs at UWI and also served as the Principal of UWI’s Open Campus.
Chairman of the Board, Godfrey Smith, expressed his enthusiasm for Dr. Longsworth’s appointment, stating, “Dr. Longsworth’s deep and relevant experience positions her to make a substantial contribution to UB’s development. We are excited to have her on board.”
In response, Dr. Longsworth shared, “I am excited and honored to be a part of Belize’s national university’s Board of Directors and I look forward to working with the team and contributing to UB’s institutional development.”
Dr. Longsworth’s three-year term as Vice Chairperson commences immediately, and her election signifies a new chapter for UB as it continues to advance its mission of providing quality higher education in Belize.
